Writing Coaching

Writing Coaching

What is coaching?

If you need a little push to motivate yourself to finish a manuscript or get into a regular writing habit, a coach can help you:

  • set goals

  • suggest readings

  • increase production

  • revise and submit

  • set deadlines

Anika’s coaching and mentoring experience:

  • Las Musas Hermanas mentorship

  • Loft Literary Center’s Mentor Series

  • AWP Writer to Writer mentorship

  • Private clients

Coaching clients often have existing work and are looking for feedback and help moving forward or working toward publication. I work primarily with memoir and middle-grade writers. Please contact me for more info.

“My manuscript went from blah to something I am proud of. Anika’s insights, comments, and critique made all the difference. She was kind yet honest about her feedback. She is someone I would want to work with for all my manuscripts.”

Manuscript Critique

A manuscript critique can help you shape a work-in-progress after you’ve done as much as you can.

When you entrust your manuscript for a critique, you can expect:

  • your manuscript will get a close and careful read

  • an edit letter that will include any questions or areas for improvement, as well as suggestions for making changes

Types of manuscripts:

  • Creative nonfiction (memoir, essays)

  • Writing for children (middle-grade fiction, some YA)

Manuscript critiques are based on word count. When you contact me about an estimate, please include:

  • 20-40 pages from the manuscript

  • total word count

These services start at $75/hour.
